Toy Poodles

I produce Toy poodles in white/cream, silver, and red. Toy poodles are very small in size and bone, 5 to 9 pounds. They are precious, but they do not always make the best choice for a family with young children. When thinking of buying a family companion, consider the children. It is no fun for children to have a pet they can not fully enjoy because parents are constantly telling the kids to be careful with the dog.         Breeders often produce over size toys from a toy litters, standing 11 to 12 inches at the shoulder and weighing about 8 to 12 pounds. They are a better choice, than a toy, if you have young children, but they still have smaller bones. The over size toy is not the same as a miniature poodle. Miniature Poodles   I produce Miniatures in brown, black, white and silver. Miniatures are considered a medium size, 12 to 18 pounds average. Their bones are larger and stronger, being able to handle the rough tough play of children. The height of a miniature is taller than a toy, usually my miniatures are 12 to 15 inches at the shoulder blades.            I specialize in the Miniatures, because I believe they are the ideal size for most families. They excel at all sporting dogs events, fly ball, agility, obedience, and therapy work.   Standard Poodles     I produced Standard Poodles in white/cream, silver, and blue. Standards are the largest of the Poodle breed and the original breed. Standards usually weigh 40 to 65 pounds. They can measure 22 to 26 inches tall at the shoulder blades. Standards are very smart, easy to train, and are somewhat an "alert" dog.         They will let you know when someone is approaching your home. They are "people " dogs. They are not yard dogs, being kept from the activities of the family. They want to be in the middle of all family events and want to curl up next to you while you are watching TV. A good walk several times a week and a game of fetch is appreciated for exercise.      All poodles are delightful, non shedding, clean, alert, very smart, easily trained, and long lived. They are all devoted to every member of the family. Each size has their own unique qualities. Grooming on all three sizes is a must. Hair on the face will grow too long and may cause eye problems. I suggest to everyone check into the cost of grooming in your area before buying a poodle. The cost of grooming a standard is something to be considered before buying one.
