Sasha the Flyball Poodle Sasha StarFriend, daughter of miniatures CH South Paws’ Starbuck Obsession and South Paws Friendship Betrayed, began her flyball career in November 2004 by joining the Go Dog Go! Flyball Club in Raleigh, North Carolina. Sasha earned her first flyball point at the club’s spring tournament after more than two years of training. Training was a challenge for both David the handler and Sasha, requiring weekly club practices, daily work at home and even a private trainer. Persistence paid off, because six months after her first point, Sasha earned two titles in one weekend tournament, Flyball Dog (FD) and Flyball Dog Excellent (FDX). In 2008 Sasha became a Flyball Dog Champion (FDCh) at a spring tournament and earned her Flyball Dog Champion - Silver (FDCh-S) title in the fall by earning nearly 500 points in one tournament. Her next title, Flyball Dog Champion – Gold, is within reach in 2009. Sasha has become very reliable in her tournament performance. Highly focused, she eagerly runs down the lane to retrieve the ball and return. Her consistency, paired with fast teammates, has led to her successful title accumulation. click on Carbon's photo to see a larger version	South Paws' Standard Poodle out of our girl Electra Carbon Rose at her very first AKC Agility Trial! January 25-26, 2009 Carbon won 2 seconds on Saturday, along with 2 Q's (qualifying scores, or 'legs' toward titles) in both classes -- Jumpers with Weaves, and Standard. On Sunday, she earned 2 firsts, along with 2 more Q's. All four of her scores were perfect 100's. She could conceivably earn both her Novice titles in just one more weekend! Carbon Rose owns human Jeanne Miller. UPDATE 4-20-09: Carbon Rose has just earned her AKC Novice Agility Preferred and Novice Jumpers with Weaves Preferred titles, and also her AKC Canine Good Citizen title. She also just finished her USDAA Performance Dog I Agility title. We have been taking flyball classes too, and Carbon is doing well in that event as well. Carbon is an excellent overall athlete, fast as can be and an especially talented jumper. It turns out that within a year of competing she is already in the top 100 standard poodles in the U.S. in USDAA agility!
