Current entry: "The Correct Poodle" |
My name is Cheryl Wyatt. I am located in upper South Carolina, and I
have been involved in the sport of showing AKC dogs for over 30 years.
I had great success with Sporting breeds, but my love was Poodles. I
waited a very long time to have show Poodles, due to the time needed
for coat care. My family was young and I knew I could not do my best
with a young family.
|
I take great pride both in my companion poodles, as well as
my show poodles. I strive to produce every litter with
health, brains and beauty. This is not a puppy mill; I have
AKC registered Poodles, and only Poodles.
South Paws' Poodles has quality Standards, Miniatures and
Toys. South Paws' has home-bred champions. My main focus is
the Miniature variety, but occasionally I have a litter of
Toys or Standards.
I breed to the AKC standard, which is AKC's blue print for
the breed. I have solid colors only. In Toys, I am working
with the colors white, silver and red/apricot. In
Miniatures, I have two lines, black/brown & white/silver
line. Standards are produced in white/cream, silver and
blue.

When purchasing a poodle to be a member of the family, please consider
the children. Toys are very small and fragile. Their bones are very
delicate and can be broken easily. It is no fun for children to have a
play pal that they are constantly being reminded to be careful with
the Toy Poodle. Small children can make a Toy Poodle nervous.

A Miniature is more ideal size for a family. Their bones are
larger and they are able to withstand the rough tough play
of kids. I consider the Miniature size to be perfect for
most families.
Standards are wonderful, very smart and devoted to the
family. They are very good "alert" dogs if
someone is approaching your home.
Please consider the cost of grooming when thinking of
getting a poodle. They must be groomed about every 4 weeks.
Hair can grow too long on the face and cause serious eye
problems. Of course, the cost to groom a Standard is higher
than a toy or mini. So check with grooming shops to find out
your cost before buying a poodle.
Puppies are veterinarian-checked before leaving for a new
home to ensure that they are up-to-date on
vaccinations/worming. I offer a 2 year health guarantee
against genetic health problems.
|
All Standards, Toys eyes certified of PRA. All Miniatures Standards
have their OFA ratings for hips. Other tests are also done, and am
happy to list them upon contact. I believe that genetic health testing
is very important.
|
I also pay close attention to the puppy’s emotional
health. My puppies are raised in the home, and provided the
best of care, socialization, fed a top quality dog food and
are all checked by the Veterinarian before leaving me. They
are well-adjusted, loving, confident, and outgoing poodle
puppies.
My emphasis is on quality and not quantity. I am happy to
provide references from former buyers and my Veterinarian's
name and number. I can provide pictures before buying. All
companion puppies are placed on the AKC limited
registration, meaning the puppy is AKC registered, but
cannot be used for breeding. Spaying and neutering not only
makes for a better pet, but also lessens the risk of cancer.
Show puppies are offered on special terms.
Shipping is available at the buyer’s expense, provided the
temperatures are acceptable.

While I may breed future show puppies, I
value companion homes. Please contact me if you are seeking a poodle
as a companion. --Cheryl.
I have been inspected, and have met their strict guidelines in order
to register my poodles with AKC.
